Percussionist and composer Keith Terry doesn’t need instruments to make music — he produces sound using his hands and feet and torso.

As Terry tells Here & Now’s Robin Young, he started as a drummer in a jazz band, but one day he realized, “I could displace everything I was playing on the drums onto my body, and I just stood up and started moving and I haven’t sat down since.”

Now, as a founder and artistic director of the nonprofit arts organization Crosspulse, he performs his compositions and tours around the world.

He’s in the Boston area this week, as part of “Body Music Week,” a joint presentation of the International Body Music Festival, the Wellesley College Music Department and the Berklee College of Music.
