Border Deal Boosts Immigration Reform, Food Aid Sinks Farm Bill

A deal to double patrol agents and bolster fencing along the U.S.-Mexico border is drawing more supporters to an immigration reform bill likely to come up for a vote in the Senate next week. But will it survive the House?

And for a third year in a row, lawmakers there couldn’t agree on a farm bill that expands some subsidies for farmers but cuts food aid to the needy.
