What Does Chechnya Have To Do With Marathon Bombings?

Amid all the theories on who might have been behind the bombings at the Boston Marathon, Chechnya was not on the tip of anyone’s tongue.

Now we know that the two suspects in the bombings – one who police say has been killed – were brothers who grew up in Chechnya.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev was killed, according to police, and his younger brother, 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, remains at large.

We take a look at the legacy of violence in Chechnya over the past 20 years, and how that might be connected to the attacks.
