Gay people in Russia say they’re becoming victims of a government witch hunt.

The Russian parliament is in the process of passing a law which would ban so-called “homosexual propaganda,” including public events and dissemination of information about the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community to minors.

State media has seized on a high-profile string of stories that suggest gay lifestyles are perverse and damaging.

The BBC’s Paul Henley is in Russia looking at the effects of a groundswell of anti-gay public sentiment, and visited with a gay couple in a remote part of the country.
