Libyans Prepare For Historic Vote

Libyans will vote in the Libyan National Assembly elections, which will take place on Saturday. (AP)

Libyans are set to vote tomorrow for the first time in almost half a century. The elections will produce a constituent assembly of 200 members – the first step towards writing a new constitution and establishing a democratic government.

The transition from the Gadhafi era has been pretty shaky so far, and calls for a boycott and other unrest raised fears of election day violence.

The BBC’s Rana Jawad reports from Tripoli.
