CoastalRise Channels Skateboarding And Surfing Into Christian Pop

Here & Now Guest:

  • 15-year-old Timmy Whiting, singer, electric guitarist and pianist for CoastallRise
  • 31-year-old Nic Frishmuth, drummer for CoastalRise

The Agape Farm in Mount Union, Pennsylvania was the scene last weekend of one of the largest Christian music festivals in the U.S , the Creation 2011 Northeast. Artists from Toby Mac, to Owl City and Francesca Batelli performed.

But the festival was a huge deal for the pop band CoastalRise, who picked up an award for best Best Indie Performer.

The group says they are a “passionate, soul-driven musical arrangement,” and they sing about their strong Christian faith, in songs like “Judgment Day” and “Soul Power.”
