American business and consulting firms that work in Libya are keeping a close eye on the violence in the country. Consulting firms like the Livingston Group, Fahmy Hudome International and the Boston-based Monitor Group, found business in Libya after 2004.

That’s when Pres. George W. Bush dropped sanctions against the country after Libya agreed to cooperate in the war on terror and give up its plans to build nuclear weapons. Consulting firms stepped in to help Libya burnish its image. Many of the firms have since ended their contracts with Libya, but Politico’s Laura Rozen reports that the Monitor Group still appears to be working with Libya.
