Iran’s Disputed Election

There is talk of a recount in Iran today as the streets are again filled with demonstrators responding to the re-election of President Mahmoud Amadinejad.  And questions are being raised about how this crisis might affect the Obama administration’s efforts to open up a dialogue with the Islamic Republic.  We turn to Jonathan Marcus, the BBC’s Diplomatic Correspondent in London for more.

Remembering Thembi Ngubane

Thembi Ngubane, the South African AIDS activist who documented her battle with the disease in diaries broadcast on National Public Radio, died last week at age 24 of complications from AIDS-related tuberculosis.  We revisit a conversation we had with Thembi and Radio Dairies producer Joe Richman from April 2006.

Twitter and the Protests in Iran

Homemade DNA Lab

23-year-old Kay Aull set up a do it yourself DNA lab in her closet!  The MIT graduate says with just $300 and a little bit of knowledge, almost anyone can start combing through their DNA.  She brings her lab equipment to our studio to show us how it all works.
